Celebrity Style: Scarlett Johannson

Alright, so I should admit that I have a little bit of a girl crush on Miss ScarJo. It has little to do with her movies. She's one of those actresses that I always really want to like, but I'm usually not that into her performance (see: Match Point). I think my crush has more to do with her style.

Scarlett is both petite and curvy, a combination that you don't often see. Her body type is evocative of curvaceous glamour queens like Marilyn Monroe or the Vargas girls and she dresses it appropriately.  You don't see Scarlett in trendy pieces that don't work for her body type. She usually wears body hugging dresses that cinch at the waist and show off a bit of cleavage. Her tops are generally either v-neck or scoop neck, which work well for girls with a bit more going on up top. I high necked shirt on a girl with big breasts often makes her look bigger all around. By showing off a little collar bone, you have an instant slimming effect.

I think that what Scarlett's style can teach us is that it pays to pay attention to what looks good on you. Don't buy something just because it looks good on someone else or because you like the style. Work with your body!!!

I went to the mall and fell in love...

with this fabulous Gap sweater!

Part cardigan, part coat, could it get any cuter? I love that this sweater is double breasted. It's also super soft because of a little angora mixed into the material. I just want to wrap myself up in it and get cozy by a fire somewhere! The heather gray color somehow makes it even cozier and I just adore the contrasting trim at the bottom and on the cuffs. It's the little details that make a piece totally crush worthy.

This is definitely one of those pieces that I'm going to visit often and pounce on when it goes on sale!
